Massetto Kalce RA
Fast-drying natural hydraulic lime screed mix.
Concrete mix based on NHL 3.5 natural hydraulic lime and selected aggregates compliant with UNI EN 13139 (aggregates for mortar), for screeds in residential buildings, with normal working time, fast hardening and rapid drying, applied in thicknesses above 35 mm.
Massetto Kalce RA is extremely workable and spreads easily and effortlessly in thicknesses above 35 mm, either bonded to the subfloor or as a floating screed. 24-48 hours after laying it is very cohesive and walkable, and after 3 days its residual moisture is below 2%. Ceramic tiles can be laid after 48 hours, and wood, carpet or absorbent natural stone after 3 days.
Massetto Kalce RA gives the floor:
- excellent thermal conductivity;
- high heat storage capacity;
- lower thermal inertia than traditional sand and cement screeds;
- excellent compatibility with radiant floor heating systems, with no need for additives to improve workability or energy performance;
- controlled shrinkage (fewer joints needed than with traditional screeds);
- fast hardening after setting (walkable and ready for ceramic tiles 48 hours after laying);
- rapid drying (less than 2% residual moisture 3 days after laying, ready for wood, carpet or absorbent natural stone);
- excellent thermal conductivity (over radiant floor heating, it shortens the warm-up time).
Other features:
- no shrinkage or loss of thickness in the plastic phase;
- greater flexibility than traditional sand and cement screeds;
- good abrasion resistance and high durability against the weather;
- contains no solvents or substances harmful to health;
- non-combustible.
Key features:
- very low VOC content and class A+ under the French VOC – CMR Regulation;
- high elasticity and ease of application, not rigid;
- adds mass and heat storage capacity, but with lower thermal inertia than traditional sand and cement screeds;
- reversible and compatible with historic masonry;
- fully disposable and recyclable at end of life.
Massetto Kalce RA is used for screeds in residential buildings more than 35 mm thick, including over radiant heating. Unlike ordinary site-mixed sand and binder screeds, it allows fast, predictable finishing times even when site conditions are unfavorable for drying.
It is also ideal for sloped or leveling screeds, within the minimum thicknesses stated.
Massetto Kalce RA is spread directly on the floor structure, an existing screed, a lightweight screed or insulation boards, either bonded or "floating" on polyethylene or similar separating membranes, wherever thicknesses above 35 mm are possible within the finished floor levels. Any type of flooring can be laid on the hardened, dry screed: ceramic, natural stone, wood, carpet, terracotta, etc.

- Patching or repair screeds more than 35 mm thick over existing natural hydraulic lime screeds, to be finished within 3 days of laying;
- Fast-hardening screeds with predictable finishing times on even historic concrete or brick substrates, more than 35 mm thick;
- Sloped or build-up screeds over existing natural hydraulic lime screeds, historic concrete or even brick substrates, more than 35 mm thick, that can quickly be finished and walked on;
- Screeds over radiant floor heating with a total thickness of 45 mm or more, when rooms need to be brought up to temperature quickly.
