Rasante K

White all-purpose skim coat with excellent workability (fine grain).

Special white fiber-reinforced skim coat with high workability, thixotropy, plasticity and elasticity, breathable, very low in volatile organic compounds and fully recyclable at end of life, based on lime and special hydraulic binders, pure selected aggregates with a maximum grain size of 0.8 mm and additives, suitable for:

  • skim coating new indoor or outdoor plaster before painting, mineral finishing, tiling or wallpapering;
  • skim coating existing outdoor or indoor plaster after removing old paint or the old finishing coat;
  • skim coating existing plaster left uneven after removing the old finishing coat or mineral finish;
  • skim coating radiant wall heating systems that require thin layers of mortar;
  • partial patching or full replacement of plaster less than 10 mm thick;
  • leveling or smoothing skim coats on walls or ceilings, 3 to 30 mm thick;
  • leveling or smoothing skim coats on new or existing concrete.

Rasante K has very low plastic shrinkage, bonds excellently to the substrate even when smooth and poorly absorbent, and offers excellent abrasion resistance and high durability against the weather. It is breathable and hygroscopic, does not form a vapor barrier, has a low content of water-soluble salts and a very low content of volatile organic compounds (VOC), contains no solvents or substances harmful to health and is fully recyclable at end of life.

Rasante K is used to even out or level masonry or mixed plasters with different water absorption using a single product, in a single coat.
As a plaster, it can be applied up to 30 mm thick on solid brick, brick, concrete block, wood-cement, aerated concrete or tuff masonry, or on existing hydraulic binder plasters, even uneven ones, with or without paint or mineral finish, provided they are sound, clean and well bonded to the wall.
As a skim coat, it can be applied at least 3 mm thick on existing plasters with or without paint or mineral finish, provided they are based on hydraulic binders, sound, dust-free and well bonded to the wall, and in general on any substrate whose low water absorption and low roughness can cause poor adhesion with ordinary mortars.
Rasante K can be used for skim coats reinforced with glass fiber mesh and is compatible with radiant wall heating systems.
Rasante K can be painted with lime, silicate, siloxane or acrylic paints, or finished with white or through-colored mineral finishes in powder or paste form, preferably vapor-permeable. It is compatible with wallpaper and with ceramic or stone wall tiles.
