Basement floor restoration.

Structure type

Existing screed in the basement or ground floor of buildings without a ventilated crawl space, finished with ceramic tiles or stone elements (porphyry, limestone, granite).

Detail

Wall junction: laying of the finishing elements after waterproofing the existing screed.

Application cycle

  1. Existing screed of sand and cement or another hydraulic binder on blinding concrete without a ventilated crawl space.
  2. RALLK ElastoKappa waterproofing coat, applied on the existing screed and turned up vertically onto the plinth plaster.
  3. RALLK Kerasiv K Flex adhesive for laying ceramic or stone tiles, in small or large formats.
  4. Ceramic or stone finish covering.
  5. Macroporous, water-repellent, dehumidifying interior plinth plaster, at least 2 cm thick, made with RALLK IdroSoft K based on NHL 3.5 natural hydraulic lime on brick, solid brick, concrete, sand-cement block or mixed stone walls, where the plinth also needs restoring.

Additional information

  1. If the existing screed does not match the new floor levels, they can be restored before the waterproofing with RALLK Massetto K BS (for thicknesses of 1.5 to 4 cm), depending on the thickness to be made up.
  2. If applying two coats of waterproofing, wait at least 24 hours between the first and second coat.
  3. Lay the finish covering at least 24-48 hours after applying the waterproofing.
  4. Turn the waterproofing up onto the plinth plaster to the height of the skirting, if there is one, or at least up to floor level. A 120-150 g/m2 glass fiber reinforcing mesh, or a rubberized band or tape, can be embedded in the waterproofing at the upturn corner.
  5. If a macroporous dehumidifying plaster is used to restore plinth plaster damaged by rising damp, first check that no water is being pushed into the wall, or install external drainage.
  6. See the individual product data sheets for application methods and precautions.
