Massetto K RA
Fast-drying, fast-hardening screed mix.
Concrete mix based on hydraulic binders and selected aggregates compliant with UNI EN 13139 (aggregates for mortar), for screeds in residential buildings, with normal working time, fast hardening and rapid drying, applied in thicknesses above 35 mm.
Massetto K RA is extremely workable and spreads easily and effortlessly in thicknesses above 35 mm, either bonded to the subfloor or as a floating screed. 4-6 hours after laying it is very cohesive and walkable, and after 24 hours its residual moisture is below 2%. Ceramic tiles can be laid after 4-6 hours, and wood, carpet, linoleum, PVC or absorbent natural stone after 24 hours.
Massetto K RA complies with UNI EN 13813 ("screed material and floor screeds") and is CE marked in accordance with current regulations.
Key features:
- normal working time compared with traditional sand and cement screeds;
- controlled shrinkage (fewer joints needed than with traditional screeds);
- fast hardening after setting (walkable and ready for ceramic tiles 4-6 hours after laying);
- rapid drying (less than 2% residual moisture 24 hours after laying, ready for wood, linoleum, PVC, carpet or absorbent natural stone);
- excellent thermal conductivity (over radiant floor heating, it shortens the warm-up time);
- high heat storage capacity;
- excellent compatibility with radiant floor heating systems, with no need for additives to improve energy performance.
Its other features are no shrinkage and no loss of thickness in the plastic phase, good abrasion resistance, high durability against the weather, no solvents or substances harmful to health, a very low VOC content, non-combustibility and full recyclability at end of life.
Massetto K RA is used for screeds in residential buildings more than 35 mm thick. Its properties make it ideal for residential screeds that must quickly be walkable and ready for ceramic tiles, natural stone, wood, carpet, PVC or linoleum, and for screeds over radiant floor heating.
It is also ideal for sloped screeds that must quickly be walkable, within the minimum thicknesses stated.
Massetto K RA is spread directly on floor structures, existing screeds, lightweight screeds or insulation boards, either bonded or "floating" on polyethylene or similar separating membranes, wherever thicknesses above 35 mm are possible within the finished floor levels. Any type of flooring can be laid on the hardened, dry screed: ceramic, natural stone, wood, carpet, linoleum, plastic floor coverings, etc.
The main applications are summarized below:
- Patching or repair screeds more than 35 mm thick, to be finished within 24 hours of laying (for example repairs in occupied homes, offices, shops, shopping centers, etc.);
- Screeds with or without radiant floor heating, ready for tiling 4-6 hours after laying;
- Sloped or build-up screeds over existing screeds or even concrete or brick substrates, more than 35 mm thick, ready for tiling 4-6 hours after laying;
- Screeds over radiant floor heating with a total thickness above 40 mm, ready for ceramic tiles after 4-6 hours, or for wood, carpet, linoleum, PVC or natural stone 24 hours after laying.
