Massetto K BS

Screed mix for thin screeds.

Fiber-reinforced concrete mix based on hydraulic binders and selected aggregates compliant with UNI EN 13139 (aggregates for mortar), for screeds in residential buildings, applied in thicknesses above 15 mm.

Massetto K BS is extremely workable and spreads easily and effortlessly in thicknesses from 15 mm to 40 mm. It bonds extremely well to the substrate, is very cohesive just 24 h after laying, and dries fairly quickly: after one week of curing in normal conditions, wood, carpet, linoleum and tiles can be laid. It complies with UNI EN 13813 ("screed material and floor screeds") and is CE marked in accordance with current regulations.

Massetto K BS offers:

  • excellent thermal conductivity;
  • high heat storage capacity;
  • lower thermal inertia than traditional sand and cement screeds;
  • excellent compatibility with radiant floor heating systems.

Its other features are no shrinkage or loss of thickness in the plastic phase, excellent bond to the substrate even when smooth and poorly absorbent, good abrasion resistance, high durability against the weather, and no solvents or substances harmful to health.

Key features:

  • very low VOC content;
  • high elasticity, not rigid;
  • adds mass and heat storage capacity, but with lower thermal inertia than traditional sand and cement screeds;
  • reversible and compatible with historic masonry;
  • fully disposable and recyclable at end of life.

Massetto K BS is used for screeds in residential buildings more than 15 mm thick. There is no maximum thickness, although above 40 mm traditional screeds can be used. Its properties make it ideal for variable-thickness screeds over uneven subfloors, screeds over radiant floor heating, and sloped screeds.

Massetto K BS is spread directly on floor structures or existing screeds wherever thicknesses of 40 mm or less are needed to match the finished floor levels. Any type of flooring can be laid on the hardened, dry screed: tiles, wood, carpet, linoleum, plastic floor coverings, etc. Do not lay it on lightweight insulating screeds or on insulation boards.

The main applications are summarized below:

  • Variable-thickness repair screeds over existing screeds, more than 15 mm thick;
  • Screeds on even concrete or brick substrates, 15 mm to 40 mm thick;
  • Sloped or build-up screeds over existing screeds or even concrete or brick substrates, more than 15 mm thick;
  • Screeds over radiant floor heating with a total thickness above 40 mm.
